bring your curiosity, and we'll feed it with possibility

believe your ears are a portal to another world. Where sound illuminates ideas, and the boundaries blur between science, philosophy, and human experience. Big questions are investigated, tinkered with, and encouraged to grow. Bring your curiosity, and we'll feed it with possibility.

subjective views of existence

The human brain perceives the external world through the senses, and each individual human is influenced greatly by his or her experiences, leading to subjective views of existence and the passage of time

"courage, my love" -razzle dazzle ros

my end notes for the day:
inevitable amounts of maturity + gaining wisdom = good,
realizations of actual reality + end of adolescent dreams = disastrous.

i've been recollecting throughout my years of life and have been deciphering what i've really wanted this whole time because i can't seem to just pick one. what did the five year old little chi-mee fantasize about in her imagination? what did the nine year old chi-mee want to become when she was in 4th grade? what did the 17 year old want to study next when she graduated high school? etc, etc. It's funny to think about because when I was a kid, i had no idea who and what kind of person I'd become.. I just figured I'd figure it out grow into myself however way it seemed fit. But whenever i would imagine myself in the future and project the older me in the future, I'd see myself as a worker at sea world- and not even as trainer, but the tank cleaner. I ultimately just imagined myself being near and around water/the ocean. I should fulfill my little kids dream. Location, location. I should move to a coast. Muturity is creepin behind my shoulder and its changing me faster than I can keep up.

mind/body dichotomoy. again.

when it comes down to it, i feel like i'm two seperate entities that are cohesively living together... my mind and body.. and well they technically are two different things living/working together, but I mean in a sense that they have their own consciousness? their own thoughts, goals, and desires? I dont know.. its hard to explain. i know it's just an extension of my imagination.. but maybe it's not. Like sometimes I can feel myself looking behind my eyelids.. and when i open my eyes i see the world that i'm living in.. but i'm also living in an entire world inside of my own body! the tiny individual cells are all working along, doing what they're programmed to do to keep me running and alive.. or i think about the kidney sitting there stressing out..
or i think about the person behind these eyeballs... the nerves that are connecting them to my brain, and then even more electrical signals firing and categorizing what i'm perceiving.. and then interpreting it with a mind that has been cultured to certain ideas/morals/themes/events/situations, etc.. but then i have an overall consciousness that is trying to perceive the outside world too. its overwhelming.. too many ways to look at things.. sometimes theres this mind inside of me that is perceiving the world as i live in- in more than one different way... The most intriguing thing about the human mind is that we can project ideas about the future, and imagine and construct it. and that allows us to imagine scenarios before they happen, and we can weigh the pros and cons, and understand and envision what the outcome and possibilities will probably be. It's a strange thought to think about i think. But that's what keeps us going in some way.. because we have imaginations that have no limit, and when we think and imagine about the unknown, it only drives us to create it and to make it happen.. or that's the way i see it.

i like jellyfish.

Waters boil with jellyfish in one of Palau's marine lakes. Surprises hide in each of some 80 such lakes in this Pacific archipelago jellyfish swarm.
The Pacific sea nettle (Chrysaora fuscescens) is one of the world’s largest jellyfish, with an umbrella that typically measures up to 50 centimeters wide and tentacles that stretch up to 2 meters (6.5 ft) in length. It has a moderate to severe sting that can cause welts to form.

The red paper lantern medusa has a transparent, bell-shaped hood measuring about 10 centimeters in diameter and 17 centimeters from top to bottom, with between 14 and 30 tentacles that extend up to 6 times the length of its body. Inside the transparent hood is a deep red colored mantle that can crumple up or expand like a paper lantern, hence the name.

deliberate attempt to expand consciousness

If evolution is now being carried on through human history, at immense acceleration and through the expansion of consciousness, then we might probably expect that through there would be progress, it would be confined to the very few, would break out at unexpected times and from unsuspected sources.

.. the only way to make deliberate attempt to expand consciousness, is to abandon the old life altogether and to attempt to build up a way of living in which the expansion of consciousness, the deliberate, intentional, experimental attempt to forward psychological evolution becomes the one purpose and aim binding together the social group.

-gerald heard

thinking

success and happiness comes from working towards an ideal.
instead of competing , all we have to do is create.

we become what we think about.
a man's life is what his thoughts make of it.
conversely, if you think nothing. you become nothing.

natural laws of physics- of course we're limited to these laws as well : for every action, there is an equal amount of reaction.

2. permitting the mind to soar as it was designed to do, rising above narrow-mindedness, prejudices. let the imagination speculate free for all possible solutions.
courage.
action.
ideas are worthless unless theres action.
for a 30 day test, only let your mind think about what you allow it to think about. think of goals to work towards and do them. simple.
all you need is a purpose. wake up and live.

we're on this constant moving ball and while the ground doesnt stop moving, things just keep happening, situations keep occurring, etc, and i just have a major complex with time, etc, etc..

we're in control more than we think. every action has a reaction.

the social consciousness. there should be more attempts to find new ways to approach and implement global norms.. one that will create a common identity within the human race, one in which transcends culture, nationality, religion, etc. one that creates a strong identity on the basic common ground of being a social, conscious, rational being. and then maybe we'll start treating other humans right.

"Society was perishing, man degenerating into anarchy because no one had, or knew how to obtain, convincing insight into an order of things above animal level, an order which would sanction moral conduct." - pain sex and time.

some favorite kurt vonnegut quotes

- If I had a bazooka, I would blow a hole in the wall between us. If either or both of us survived, I'd ask you 'What's a girl like you doing in a place like this?
- Live by the harmless untruths that make you kind and brave and healthy and happy
- A fish pitched up by the angry sea, I gasped on land and I became me.
- New knowledge is the most valuable commodity on earth. The more truth we have to work with, the richer we become.
- The arts are not a way to make a living. They're a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or how badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake
- Our planet's immune system is trying to get rid of people
- Another flaw in the human character is that everybody wants to build and nobody wants to do maintenance.
- I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

- A purpose of human life, no matter who is controlling it, is to love whoever is around to be loved. –kurt Vonnegut.

my goals for the upcoming year.. seeking higher consciousness

become self-sustained.
minimize habits.
keep the imagination going. remain curious.
investigate love, lust, friendship, and all of the gray spaces in-between.
rationalize. prioritize.
no more blissful ignorance. keep knowledge and truth close.

always einstein

A human being is a part of a whole, called by us 'universe', a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

higher consciousness

This specialization [evolution of the consciousness] must be corrected by recovering once again a generalized apprehension which does not reject any experience - be it color or the sense of the self - whereby the organism lives. For the organism which begins to dismiss actual experiences because these disturb the simplicity of its explanations is headed for that ever-narrowing awareness which ends in presenting itself with a world in which it cannot live - a world not only without sanction but without meaning.

insides are dancing

Been pre-occupied with the non-stop pondering of what I should do next.. and it's a delicate balance between making goals and a plan, but also floating along and letting yourself be taken away on this random, spontaneous ride of life. It's as though i'm on this non-stop quest to figure out life- when in reality, there's nothing to figure out. Things just keep happening, situations arise, things occur.. and the brain just doesn't stop powering this machine with non-stop thinking about everything during it all.. about what is, isn't, could be, would be, should be.. Constantly in a battle between fact and fiction. But a lot of times i can't ever catch a single thought, because I'm not actually thinking about one single particular thing.. but instead it's kind of a feeling- combined with thinking- or imagining, or marveling about things like, how intriguing the spaces between things are.. everything being shaped by time and space.. beautiful mishaps, causality, consciousness, nothing expanding into something.. it's all so incredible!
soo.. could perhaps have some truth to it, but maybe that's why so many people now have adhd.. because there's just so much happening, so complete sensory overload! humans and their brains.. adaptation.. it takes time.. and after thousands of years, we're suddenly in this technological age when we're doing 7 things at once. percieving the world through 5 senses. it's a tug of war. So as i was saying.. it's all a delicate balance. and floating.

and I think that only daring speculation can lead us further and not accumulation of facts. - Einstein

the mind / body dichotomy

The question, then, is how it can be possible for conscious experiences to arise out of a lump of gray matter endowed with nothing but electrochemical properties?

how i see it

Sometimes i sit and think, and feel my actual body mass... like how i'm just made of 75 trillion cells.... cells that were products of millions of years of evolution... and every cell contains my specific information, and works alone individually on its own accord, requiring no thought. they just all work coherently together and in the end are just what composes... a human body.. slash me. and how human thought itself is no more than a pattern of electrical signals in a matrix made from carbon rather than silicon... I love being reduced to these scientific elements that compose the earth... it just makes me think so much more broadly! ... like.. how insignificant i am... Not significant at all! and some would take that in a depressing light... but i take it in the complete opposite and see so much beauty in the idea ... that there isn't that much substance matter that differentiates me and anything else that exists, so we're just these substances all fluidly living together..

so wise

My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind.

Laws alone can not secure freedom of expression; in order that every man present his views without penalty there must be spirit of tolerance in the entire population.

This is from the footage of Joseph Kittinger in 1960, who set the current world records for the highest parachute jump, the longest parachute free-fall and the fastest free-fall. I hate the idea of forever. i dont want anything forever.

It's enlightening for it to sink in that the universe is constantly in motion, and nothing stays the same, and everything is always changing... Chaos theory! The behavior of things are random, and everything is slowly moving more and more into chaos..

just keeping oneself entertained

What's the purpose in a lot of things that we do anyway? the things that i do, the things that I say, the thoughts that I have, the things that I imagine... why do I? i suppose, all to entertain myself. We all need stimulation. We all just need to have a muse..

organic robot machines

life. it's so unique and precious..
i love to think how animate and inanimate things are all in existence, but the unique position that the the living organisms have is that we're self-sufficient beings, transmitting and modifying energy.. we're living systems, composed of cells that contain their individual information, and work on their own accord, adding them all up and composing a being. and it's amazing to think about how we exist and reproduce ourselves...

so if...
machine: any device that is not a computer that transits or modifies energy.
robot: a system- which by appearance or movements, conveys a sense that it has intent or agency of its own

and.. life systems = obey physical laws = controlled by coded information = self sufficient beings = organic robot machines! let's call us that.

but.. i guess the dilemma: being programmed... O_o

do what you wanna do, say what you wanna say - acid house kings

i kind of want to disappear. or, fly away. or float away. it's not that i don't want to exist, but i just want to hoover above the ground so i can see things in a different perspective. mahhh hahha damn gravity for keeping me stuck on this level

a minimalist existence.

i was thinking earlier that I want to have a minimalist existence. I dont want to own a lot of stuff. things. Like I dont want to know that I own an entire set of eating utensils. What am i going to do with 5 or 6 forks and spoons? Eat with them, yeah, but when I move from one place to the next, i don't want to have to lug them around. That was just a par-example, but there's just a lot of matter and extra materials that we have to own, and I don't want to. But we need to. but I don't want to. It's a never-ending cycle. Everything in our vision pulls at our attention at least a little, so clutter is like a form of visual distraction, and if i don't have a lot of things, then less clutter, less distraction, less stress.

I want to be like this tree. it has nothing.

veins of the earth

look at yourself.. We're just physical systems too, right? We're just complex arrangements of carbon molecules. Think about how it happens. There's some electrical activity in your brain. Your neurons fire. They send a signal down into your nervous system. It passes along down into your muscle fibers. They twitch. You might, say, reach out your arm. It looks like it's a free action on your part, but every one of those - every part of that process is actually governed by physical law, chemical laws, electrical laws, and so on.
